Video Recordings
Advisory Neighborhood Commissions are subject to the open meetings provisions of the Sunshine Act. These provisions state that “a written transcript or a transcription shall be kept for all [public] meetings and shall be made available to the public . . . upon request.” (See D.C. Code § 1–207.42(b).
While there is no requirement for an ANC to make tape or audio-visual recordings of their meetings, such recordings have been accepted as an alternative to a written transcript.
Many Commissions make their meeting recordings publicly available on their websites, though there is no requirement to do so. These recordings are required to be available to the public upon request.
